East coast journey begins

So I'm writing this a few days before Christmas day! We are in fact heading to Towsnville in Northern Queensland. I've been pretty terrible with the Oz blog.
But here we go...
So Sydney is our first point of call. We arrive from Bali on a night flight which neither of us managed to sleep on. On top of this we cant get any accommodation anywhere, turns out our Asian philosophy of booking the night before or rocking up on the day dosent work here!
We finally find some dorm beds at £25 a night! A far cry from our beach side hotels and flash packer lifestyle.
Sydney seems a little chilly but the sun is shining.  Its great to not be sweating constantly as the humidity is much reduced.
So after faffing with hostels we finally find some cheaper rooms for our other two nights stay. With the admin out the way atart to explore the city. The usual hot spots are on the list as we head to the harbour. The bridge on the right and the Opera house on the left make for some great photos against the bright blue sky!
We walk back through town via the botanical gardens and bump into one of Sams friends from home! Random!

Now a bit more faffing occurs. Dinner has been made relatively easy by eating out for every meal for the past six months. However with Oz being so expensive, out comes the pasta and sauce. Back to the culinary Uni skills and mundane meals!
Along with the price hikes in food is the crazy price for a pint. Its back to the goon, (terribly cheap boxed wine) which isn't doing my hangovers any favours.
We spend a day visiting the famous Bondi and Bonte beach. A lazy day in the sun watching the surfers and eating fish and chips reminds me of summer trips to the coast at home!

Our Sydney trip comes to an end with some Xmas shopping and fireworks display to mark the count to Christmas!
We will back in Sydney in the new year, but now our journey takes on a 12 hour bus trip to Byron Bay!

As Cj has written, we started Oz with a bit of a mare and spent more then we intended. We had to rush activities and fit everything into a few days. We did this pretty well though as we saw all the landmarks.

The opera house is so nice. Although, it is smaller then i imagined. We ate lunch at the harbour over looking the bridge and i had a piece of chicken on the end of my fork. A seagull literally scooped down inches from my head and took the piece of chicken off my fork. I acted pretty calmly infront of the posh restaurant, considering it was a quick sly move that scared us.
Bondi beach is really nice. We went on a saturdy so it was quite busy, full of big groups having bbq's. On the beach there is huge salt water swimming pools for people who dont surf (basically the Brits)

There is still a few things we want to see in Sydney so i am glad we are coming back for a few more days.
